FoodGuessr.com - This is the game that inspired our trip to Malta. You get pictures, an ingredients list, and a description of 3 dishes from around the world, and have to guess where in the world it's from (5 guesses per dish).
If you liked FoodGuessr, try MapTap! This one was recently recommended to us. There usually isn't any food but you get even more geography practice, and at the end you learn 5 interesting stories from world history.
Bracket City - We often bring this up on bus rides. Guess the missing words until all the brackets are gone, and then there's a link to something that happened on this day in history.
New York Times Daily Puzzles: Our morning routine is:
1) Strands (Like a wordsearch where you don't know what words you're looking for)
2) Connections (There are 16 words/phrases, find the connections to sort them into 4 categories. Try to get a Reverse Rainbow, or at least a high Uniqueness score.)
3) Wordle (Can you beat the bot?)
4) Pips (Time permitting, this one's less collaborative: it's like Sudoku or KenKen but with dominoes. A great brain exercise!)
The New York Times News Quiz comes out on Fridays- it's a tough one! As a palate cleanser, follow up with the New York Times Flashback Quiz on Saturdays- arrange 8 events correctly on the historical timeline
The Atlantic Daily Crossword: Gina does the NYT crossword every day, but the Atlantic one is free to nonsubscribers. We used to look forward to the Caleb's Inferno every month but the paywall went higher.
What else? We gladly accept recommendations for more puzzles and games!
